Thursday, October 26, 2017
Registration: 5:30 pm (Light hors d’oeuvres served)
Lecture: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
Hands-on: 7:00 – 8:00 pm
Keynote Speaker: Dr. David Gratton
Location: Dental Prosthetic Services, 1900 51st Street NE, Cedar Rapids 52402
Technology is deeply ingrained in our personal lives, but what about our professional lives as dentists? Clinical dentistry is embracing the application of digital technologies to replace the analog techniques with which we are so comfortable. While this is especially true in impression taking and chairside milling, processes can be digitized at each phase of restorative and implant treatment, virtualizing the patient from diagnosis through prosthesis delivery.
We will explore the technology to understand its capabilities, advantages, disadvantages, limitations, and impact on patient care. We will also discuss the new roles of the care team, including the dentist/laboratory relationship. Finally, we will examine the scientific evidence surrounding the routine clinical use of these emerging technologies
for the evolving virtual dental patient.
Participants will also have the opportunity to experience intra-oral scanning devices, including 3M True Definition, Carestream 3600, and Straumann Cares.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Have a greater understanding of current and emerging technologies for each phase
in the treatment of dental patients, especially digital intra-oral impression systems and chairside CAD/CAM systems
- Sketch the workflow possibilities in the dentist/laboratory relationship
- Appreciate the evidence-based data pertaining to digital impression and chairside CAD/CAM systems
- Describe how CBCT radiographic data can integrate with CAD/CAM systems to enhance dental implant therapy
Cost: $25 per team (After the event, your registration fee will be donated to the Iowa Dental Foundation)
CE Credits: 2 (Application Pending)
